Klopp confirms Liverpool departure date

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed that he will stay at the club for the duration of his contract and then look to return to Mainz.

However, Klopp mentioned that his purpose of returning to Mainz might not be coaching. He could look to live there in the future.

Klopp has a contract until 2024 with the Reds and it will be interesting to see if he can guide Liverpool to more silverware during the remaining tenure.

The German is already a club legend after winning Liverpool’s sixth Champions League trophy and ending their 30-year-wait for a Premier League title.

Liverpool fans will be hoping to keep him at the club for longer than his current deal but it seems that the German will move on eventually.

It will be interesting to see how FSG start planning for his departure in a few years time.

Speaking to the media about his desire to return to Germany, Klopp said: “Definitely to live, after my career. Most likely even to Mainz”.

On how long he’ll remain at Anfield, he added: “Four years in Liverpool.”

The Liverpool manager also revealed that he could take a sabbatical after leaving the Reds. Furthermore, he reflected on his plans of retirement as well. He said that he might look to retire if he feels like it.

He said: “In five years the world can look very different again.”
