Barcelona make a late bid for Leeds United forward Raphinha as they try to beat Chelsea

Raphinha-Leeds United

Barcelona have made a late bid for Leeds United’s winger Raphinha according to reports.

The Catalan side have been pursuing Raphinha’s signature. Still, they have been overtaken by Chelseawhose £60m offer have already been accepted by Leeds.

But according to Daily Mail, Raphinha’s agent Deco is waiting to see if Barcelona can release more funds following the £229million injection from investment firm Sixth Street for 10% of the club’s TV rights for the next 25 years.

Chelsea have held extensive contract talks with the Brazilian, as they look to head off any last-gasp threat from the Nou Camp. Thomas Tuchel’s side have already offered him a five-year deal worth around £118,000 a week and agreed to a £55m fee plus add-ons with his parent club.

The Blues feel they are in the pole position to sign the winger. Still, with Deco spotted in Catalonia on Wednesday, there appears to be another twist to the story.

Despite being close to an agreement with Raphinha, Chelsea are not his number one choice. The Brazilian international, like most South American players, would prefer to go to La Liga giants Barcelona, with his representative doing all he can to explore that option.
