Koeman hits back at fans for criticizing Griezmann

Barcelona star Antoine Griezmann was subject to jeers from fans during Sunday’s win against Getafe.

The French Superstar put on an underwhelming display although the Catalan club were collectively good.

Now, Barca manager Ronald Koeman has hit back at the fans for the unnecessary criticism, stating that Griezmann was unlucky for the day.

The Dutch gaffer said: As a coach I can’t understand why fans whistle at one of our players. It’s not good. You can shout if he doesn’t have the right attitude or does not work. Griezmann had difficulties in the game, he was unlucky, but it was just a game.

“Like all forwards, he has good days and others which are not [good]. There are games in which you can’t find space and it also depends on the opponent. We didn’t create chances for him either.”

Griezmann’s onus has doubled after Lionel Messi’s departure to PSG. However, the former Atletico Madrid star has failed to register a goal or an assist in La Liga so far.

Emerson close to joining Premier League outfit Tottenham

Barca full-back Emerson is reportedly close to joining Premier League giants Tottenham after both clubs are on the verge of agreeing to a deal worth 30m euros.

The Brazilian right-back was permanently signed from Real Betis months ago but reports have stated that he is on the transfer exchange due to the Catalan club’s financial crisis.

Famed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that Emerson could be on his way to North London in the coming days while adding that Spurs defender Serge Aurier is not part of the deal.

Koeman would rely on Sergino Dest, Oscar Mingueza and Sergi Roberto for the right-back spout should the Brazilian leave the club.
