Barcelona manager Xavi eyeing three Premier League stars in January

Xavi agrees £5.4m-a-year deal, to replace Setien as Barcelona manager

The Blaugrana’s new manager has identified three targets from the English top-flight.

Barcelona’s new manager Xavi is looking for reinforcements in the January transfer window and has shortlisted a few names.

According to ESPN, the former midfielder plans to raid the Premier League for the signings of Edinson CavaniTimo Werner and Raheem Sterling on loan.

The Catalans are deprived of attacking options after injuries to Sergio Aguero, Martin Braithwaite and Ansu Fati. Meanwhile, Luuk de Jong has been a disappointment this season, and Barca could send him back to his parent club Sevilla in January.

Xavi is aware of Barca’s financial struggles, and hence he plans to sign the Premier League trio on loan.

Sterling has been heavily linked with a move to the Nou Camp in recent times, with the Manchester City winger continuing to struggle for minutes. Man City gaffer Pep Guardiola also addressed Barca’s interest in Sterling, claiming that the Catalan giants could always lure big names.

Xavi is said to be a huge admirer of Sterling as he believes that the Sky Blues forward can bring stability to the wide areas.

Cavani’s chances at Manchester United have withered since the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer. The Uruguayan striker was impressive for the Red Devils last season but has only made 5 Premier League appearances this term.

Chelsea’s Timo Werner is the final name on Xavi’s wishlist. The German forward has been on and off since his transfer from RB Leipzig last year. The 25-year-old has clearly failed to replicate his Bundesliga form at Stamford Bridge.

With the German attacker struggling for minutes this season, Barca are looking to get him on loan in January.
