Real Madrid

After a shaky start to their 2021/22 La Liga season, Real Madrid have recovered and are dominating the league.

Los Blancos are sitting pretty high at the top of the league table, after winning 13 of their opening 17 games (D3, L1). They come into this tie on the back of a 2-0 victory of defending champions Atletico Madrid in the Madrid derby last Sunday.

The win was their ten consecutive wins in all competitions and marked the fourth time in a row that Carlo Ancelloti‘s men did not concede a goal. Their dominance of the league has been truly remarkable and they don’t look like stopping anytime soon.

They have won their last seven league games with the last three of those victories coming ‘to nil’ with the scoring all wrapped up before the hour-mark. This version of Madrid is the best version there has been in six years as they haven’t accrued as many points after 17 games since 2014/15.

They eventually ended that season as runner-ups, meaning that Ancelloti will not get carried away with their record so far. He will want his side to complete the job without drama and will look to win this game.

They will fancy their chance of getting all three points judging by their home form, which has seen them go almost a year without a league defeat at home W13, D5).

Possible Real Madrid starting line-ups

Thibaut Courtois; Nacho,  Eder Militao, David Alaba, Ferland Mendy; Casemiro, Toni Kroos, Eduardo Camavinga; Vinicius Junior, Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic.

Injured: Marcelo, Dani Ceballos, Gareth Bale, Rodrygo, Marco Asensio, Luka Modric.

Doubtful: Karim Benzema, Dani Carvajal

Suspended: None

Cadiz

Struggling Cadiz will travel to the capital of Spain looking to make it three games without a loss in all competitions.

The visitors followed up their 1-1 draw with Granada last weekend with a 1-0 win over Albacete in the Copa del Rey on Thursday.

They come into this tie sitting in 18th place with 13 points – two points behind Alaves occupying the last relegation spot.

They beat Madrid 1-0 the last time both teams met in this Stadium, in what was one of the biggest upsets in their history. However, they lay tenth on the table that period, a far cry from their current league position.

They have won just one of their last 12 league matches (D5, L6). Without a clean sheet in four LL fixtures (D1, L3), Cadiz are struggling defensively with only Levante the team to have conceded a higher average of goals per La Liga game this term (1.82) than they.

Possible Cadiz starting line-ups

Jeremias Ledesma; Carlos Akapo, Fali, Cala, Alfonso Espino; Thomas Alarcon, Ivan Alejo, Jens Jonsson, Alex Fernandez, Santiago Arzamendia, Anthony Lozano

Injured: Isaac Carcelen, Jon Garrido, Jose Mari,

Suspended: Salvi Sanchez
