Real Madrid

Real Madrid return to domestic action against Getafe after their classic win over Chelsea in the Champions League.

Los Blancos put on a show at Stamford Bridge, pressing the Londoners into making mistakes, resulting in a wayward pass from Benjamin Mendy that allowed Karim Benzema to score his third goal of the night to seal the tie.

Carlo Ancelotti’s men also maintained their 12 points gap over Barcelona with a win over Celta Vigo in their last La Liga action, a game they won 2-1 thanks to another Karim Benzema brilliance, this time making no mistake twice from the penalty spot.

But Getafe beat Los Blancos in the reverse fixture early this year, and have gone two games without tasting defeat at the hands of the Spanish giants. And so Carlo Ancelotti and his boys will be more motivated to pick up their first win over Enrique Flores’ team as they continue to chase the La Liga crown after missing out last season.

Eden Hazard missed the trip to London, and so did Luka Jovic. The duo will also be absent from this game.

Possible Real Madrid starting line-up

Thabiut Courtois; Dani Carvajal, Eder Militao, David Alaba, Ferland Mendy; Luka Modric, Edouard Camavinga, Casemiro; Federico Velverde, Vinicius Junior, Karim Benzema.

Injured: Eden Hazard, Isco, Luka Jovic

Doubtful: None

Suspended: None

Getafe

Getafe will hope to make it two out of two against Carlo Ancelotti’s table-topping Real Madrid and also record their second win in a row in the process.

Enrique Flores’ team come into this game on the back of a 1-0 win over Real Mallorca last weekend. They sit comfortably in 14th place in the La Liga standings, safe from any relegation fears and will come into this encounter in high spirits, having already beaten the city rivals in the reverse fixture.

The visitors have just eight games to secure another season of top-flight football and will be hoping to build on their weekend victory in this game.

After going two games unbeaten against Los Blancos, Enrique Flores’ stubborn side will fancy their chances of getting a good result in this game. They have often proven difficult for topsides to break down, as the Azulones often find joy in playing the Spanish big teams.

However, their lask of discipline is an issue that is threatening to derial their season. Their last game against Real Mallorca saw a record of ten yellow cards brandished as Enrique Flores’ men once again played their brand of football. The five yellow cards received was the 21st yellow card the capital side have received in their last four matches, with two red cards to boot.

And so, Flores will be hoping that his boys are in better spirits as they go toe to toe with city rivals.

Jonathan Silva and Jorge Cuenca will both be unavailable for selection as they are serving a suspension after picking up red cards in their draw against Athletic Club.

Possible Getafe starting line-up

David Soria; Djene Dakonam, Okay Yokuslu, Stefan Mitrovic; Damian Suarez, Carles Alena, Nemanja Maksimović, Gonzalo Villar, Matthias Olivera; Sandro Ramirez, Enes Unal.

Injured: Jaime Mata

Doubtful: None

Suspended: None
