Cagliari will welcome Juventus to Sardegna Arena this Saturday for the 32nd Round match of the 2021/22 Serie A season.

Venue: Sardegna Arena (Cagliari)

Key Statistics

Cagliari are without a win in their last four home games, with two draws and two losses in that period.

The hosts have conceded 59 goals in Serie A this season. Only Salernitana (66) have conceded more goals in the Italian top flight this season.

They have scored 29 goals this season. Only the current bottom-three clubs have scored fewer goals.

Juventus have won their last three away games in all competitions.

The Old Lady are unbeaten in their last away games in all competitions, winning three and drawing three.

The visitors were ahead at half-time in five of their last six SA away victories.

Head to head

Juventus have nine wins in the last ten head-to-head meetings between both sides. Cagliari’s only win in that period came in the 2019/2020 season.

Cagliari

Cagliari will look to end their run of four losses from four league games when they host Juventus on Saturday.

The hosts 5-1 hammering at Udinese last Sunday kept their wait for a league point going for another week. They have not won a league game since their 2-1 away win to Torino in February and come into this tie with a three-point gap to the relegation zone. But their current placement on the table was because the current bottom three also lost their games. Had Genoa won Verona, Walter Mazzarri’s side would have started the weekend sitting in the relegation zone, given their poor goal difference.

And so, they’ll need to start winning soon to give them a chance of extending their stay in the top flight.

However, a visit from Turin giants Juventus offers little hope of a turnaround due to their horrific SA record this term against the current top-five sides (D1, L7).

Another poor omen ahead of this match is that the hosts have picked up a slight majority of their points this season on their travels (13 vs 12). That should act as a warning, as that season was also the last time that Cagliari picked up fewer points at home than away, and ended in relegation.

Possible Cagliari starting line-up

Alessio Cragno; Matteo Lovato, Giorgio Altare, Edoardo Goldaniga; Raoul Bellanova, Dalbert Henrique, Razvan Marin, Gabriele Zappa, Alessandro Deiola; Joao Pedro, Gaston Pereiro.

Injured: Nahitan Nandez

Doubtful: Kevin Strootman

Suspended: Alberto Grassi

Juventus

Juventus will look to get back to winning ways when they travel to Sardegna Arena this Saturday.

The Old Lady suffered a narrow 1-0 loss to fierce rivals Inter Milan last weekend, ending their run of 16 games without a defeat in the league.

The result also caused their cushion to fifth-placed AS Roma to decrease to five points and so they will come into this tie looking over their shoulders as the race for the top-four enters its final run.

The loss to Inter will have confirmed once again to Max Allegri how far his side have fallen behind the top-three sides, after winning none of their six games against those teams this season (four draws and two losses).

But on the plus side of things, Juve have an almost perfect record when facing bottom-five opposition in Serie A this season (six wins and one draw).

Given that they have lost just once to their hosts in the last nine head-to-head meetings while winning nine times, the visitors are clear favourites with only Napoli and Atalanta winning more away league matches than the ‘Bianconeri’ when travelling as the bookmakers’ choice this term.

Possible Juventus starting line-up

Wojciech Szczesny; Danilo, Matthijs de Ligt, Leonardo Bonucci, Alex Sandro; Juan Cuadrado, Denis Zakaria, Adrien Rabiot, Bernardeschi; Dusan Vlahovic, Paulo Dybala.

Injured: Marley Ake, Kaio Jorge, Federico Chiesa, Weston McKennie

Doubtful: None

Suspended: None
