Mbappe closing in on PSG deal
Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe has been linked with a move away from the French club for a while now.
There have been reports that the likes of Real Madrid are keen on signing the 23-year-old French international however Le Parisien are now reporting that the player is on the brink of signing a two-year contract extension with Paris Saint-Germain.
According to the report, the French outfit will offer the player wages of around £42.5 million per year and he will also receive an £85m signing on fee.
The new deal will make Mbappe the highest-paid player in football history and it will be interesting to see if the two parties can complete the formalities soon.
The 23-year-old is undoubtedly a world-class player who is destined to be the next footballing superstar and holding on to him would be a massive statement of intent from Paris Saint-Germain.
The French outfit will need to keep players like him at the club if they want to challenge for the Champions League trophy every year.
Mbappe’s mother denies contract agreement
Meanwhile, the player’s mother has also opened up about his long term future at Paris Saint-Germain.
The 23-year-old’s mother has confirmed that Mbappe is currently locked in talks about his future with the French club and the two parties are discussing the situation calmly.
The likes of Real Madrid will be hoping that PSG fails to convince the 23-year-old to sign a new contract so that they can bring him to Santiago Bernabeu in the summer.
Furthermore, the player’s mother has also confirmed that reports of an agreement being reached in principle are currently premature.
She said to the Mirror: “There is no agreement in principle with Paris Saint-Germain or any other club. Discussions around Kylian’s future continue in great serenity to allow him to make the best choice, in the respect of all the parties.”
Mbappe has already proven himself in the French league and the opportunity to join Real Madrid could allow him to showcase his quality in the Spanish league next season.
A player of his calibre is likely to be tempted to take up new challenges at this stage of his career and it will be interesting to see how the situation unfolds over the next few weeks.
