The former Wolves manager has claimed that Frank Lampard’s side are superior to the Spanish duo.
Glen Hoddle, former Spurs legend, has claimed that Chelsea are above the Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid.
The former Wolves manager was in full praise of the Blues following their 4-0 thrashing of Sevilla in the Champions League. The win also helped the Blues secure their spot in the Round of 16. Olivier Giroud rose to the occasion once again as he scored all the four goals for Frank Lampard‘s side.
Hoddle has claimed that the Londoners are performing at a level higher than the Spanish heavyweights Barca and Madrid while also insisting Lampard to secure a place in the semi-finals of the Champions League this season.
‘For me at this moment, they are above Barcelona and above Real Madrid.
‘They are two massive clubs but Chelsea’s team is better than theirs.
‘In this moment in time, I think they have got to be looking at at least the semi-final and you get to a semi-final, anything can happen.
‘And they have international players who are going to get better as the season goes and if the crowds are full and we are back to full houses – we haven’t seen this Chelsea side inspired by a crowd and the bigger the occasion the better the best players are.
‘There is more to come from Chelsea.’
Hoddle’s admission is not a stretch as Real Madrid are currently struggling to stay relevant in the Champions League while their form in La Liga has also taken a hit of late. Barca have been spotless in European competitions but their run in the league needs a lot to be desired.
Elsewhere, Chelsea have been consistent in both Champions League and Premier League as they have suffered only one defeat this season.
