The Argentine star will take part in the World Cup qualifiers against Uruguay and Brazil.

PSG sporting director Leonardo is disappointed with Lionel Messi’s call-up to the Argentine national team for the World Cup qualifiers.

The 34-year-old hasn’t been at his physical best this season, and he also missed the last two games for Paris Saint Germain due to injury.

Despite the fitness issues, Messi will join up with the national team for the World Cup qualifiers games against Uruguay and Brazil.

Leonardo vented his frustrations on Argentina’s decision to call up their skipper, stating it does not make sense at all.

Les Parisiens’ chief said (h/t ESPN): “We don’t agree with letting a player, who isn’t fit to play for us and is in recovery, join up with his national side.

“It doesn’t make sense and this kind of situation needs to be discussed with FIFA.”

Messi joined the French giants on a free transfer in the summer transfer window after he was told by Barcelona that he couldn’t continue.

The Argentine has experienced a rusty start in Ligue 1 so far, failing to bed into Mauricio Pochettino’s system.

Despite scoring three goals in the Champions League, Messi is yet to open his account in Ligue 1.

Argentina’s decision to call up Messi when he is not fully fit looks an absurd one. Given the less significance of World Cup qualifiers, La Albiceleste coach Lionel Scaloni should have rested the six-time Ballon d’Or winner.
