Troyes

After becoming the first Ligue 1 club since Bordeaux in February 2020 to score 3+ goals against Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes last weekend, Troyes will look to get their first win in six games when they welcome Auxerre to Stade de l’Aube.

The hosts come into this game on the back of an entertaining, yet disappointing 4-3 loss to PSG. The loss made them one of three Ligue 1 sides without a win in any of their last five outings (D3, L2), but could perhaps consider themselves unfortunate after some close contests.

Bruno Irles’ men currently sit comfortably in mid-table, however, their tally of 13 points after 13 games is their joint-lowest Ligue 1 points total after 13 rounds since 2015/16.

They are even two points worse off than they were in the 2017/18 season, which is their last relegation campaign. Having stayed in the league since returning to the top flight in 2021, they will be desperate to avoid repeating another drop as they seek to establish themselves as a permanent top-flight presence.

A return to home soil may be necessary for them to get back to winning ways having not lost here in five games (W1, D4). However, one may expect them to concede at least one goal as they come into this fixture as the only Ligue 1 side without a clean sheet this season.

Possible Troyes starting line-up

Gauthier Gallon; Jackson Porozo, Erik Palmer-Brown, Yoann Salmier; Thierno Balde, Yasser Larouci; Rony Lopes, Rominigue Kouame, Xavier Chavalerin, Wilson Odobert; Mama Balde.

Injured: Florian Terdieu, Lucien Agoume, Karim Azamoum

Doubtful: None

Suspended: None

Auxerre

Auxerre will look to make it two wins in two league games for the first time since August when they travel to Troyes on Friday.

The visitors come into this tie on the back of a 1-0 win over AC Ajaccio at the weekend. The win which was secured by an eighth-minute strike by Hamza Sakhi ended a run of eight games without a win (D2, L6) for Christophe Pelissier’s side.

It was also their first clean sheet since August and ensured that they entered this game sitting outside of the relegation zone. Their target will now be to build on that win and go on a run of form akin to the run in late August when they went three games unbeaten (W2, D1).

However, Auxerre’s away form would not inspire confidence as no side in Ligue 1 has returned fewer points on their travels than their measly total of three (W1, L5). Each of their last four road trips has ended in defeat, leaving the newly promoted outfit just two points clear of the relegation zone heading into the weekend.

Also, they have struggled in this game historically, losing seven of 14 away H2Hs (W4, D3). Their last win at Troyes was enjoyed way back in 2014, with each of their three more recent trips ending in losses, so there appears very little reason to believe they can climb up the table in this upcoming clash.

Possible Auxerre starting line-up

Benoit Costil; Rayan Raveloson, Jubal, Julian Jeanvier, Gideon Mensah; Lassine Sinayoko, Birama Toure, Hamza Sakhi, Mathias Autret; Nuno da Costa, Gaetan Charbonnier.

Injured: Kays Ruiz-Atil, Bryan Pereira, Yousouf Mchangama

Doubtful: None

Suspended: Mbaye Niang

Troyes 2-1 Auxerre
