After their disappointing loss in the Champions League, Tottenham will look to get back to winning ways when they take on Brendan Rodgers’ bottom-placed side.
Antonio Conte’s side were beaten by Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League on Tuesday night. Despite entering the game as the stronger team on paper, the hosts toiled against their Portuguese opponents who remained compact and disciplined throughout the game.
The Portuguese side got their well-deserved lead in the 90th minute through substitute Joao Paulinho who turned provider once more three minutes later for Arthur Gomes who made no mistake to fire the ball past Hugo Lloris to stun Antonio Conte’s side.
The Italian tactician will now turn his attention to the Premier League as Spurs aim to mount a little challenge this season. With just one point between them and first-placed Arsenal, the Lillywhites know they stand a great chance to take a leap to the number one spot this week with a win against Brendan Rodgers’ side, albeit depending on the results of both Arsenal and second-placed Manchester City.
