Aubameyang tried to force a move to rivals Chelsea in January

Arsenal 4-0 Norwich Arsenal moved to seventh spot

Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang tried to force a move to rivals Chelsea in January.

As per reports, contact was made with the Blues on behalf of the striker who has just 12 months left on his contract with the Gunners.

Aubameyang’s salary demands has halted contract negotiations with Arsenal right now and it will be interesting to see if the Gunners accept his demands and extend his contract in the coming months.

The Gabonese striker has been the club’s best player since joining them from Borussia Dortmund for £56m in 2018 and him leaving for Chelsea would have been a major blow for Arsenal.

Aubameyang is only behind Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah in the goal scoring charts since he has moved to England.

The Blues could have used a top class striker this past season and Aubameyang would have been a sensational signing for them. But Chelsea chose not to sign the player in the end.

Frank Lampard has now signed Timo Werner who is just as talented and lot younger.

Aubameyang is in his peak right now but he will be past it soon and it is much better to invest in someone like Werner.

Arsenal fans will be disappointed with the news that their best player tried to force a move to their bitter rivals.

They have gone through similar situations with Robin van Persie and Alexis Sanchez, both of whom chose to join Manchester United.
