Liverpool have been linked with a move for the Barcelona midfielder Gavi.

According to a report from Daily Mail, the Premier League giants are keen on signing the 17-year-old midfielder, and Jurgen Klopp is thought to be an admirer of the youngster.

The Reds will look to offer the midfielder 50 times more than he earns at Barcelona in a bid to lure him to Anfield at the end of this season.

The youngster currently earns around £1600 a week at the Spanish club, and Liverpool are prepared to offer him wages of around £80,000 a week.

The 17-year-old is one of the most talented young players to have come out of the La Masia Academy in recent seasons, and he has a massive future ahead of him.

It is no secret that Liverpool need to improve their midfield options, and Gavi could prove to be a quality long term acquisition for them.

The 17-year-old is far from his peak, and he will improve immensely with coaching and experience.

Working with a world-class manager like Juergen Klopp will only aid his development, and the 17-year-old could develop into a world-class player for Liverpool.

Losing a talent of his level would be a devastating blow for Barcelona, but the Spanish club are currently going through a financial crisis, and they could cash in on the playmaker.

The report adds that Gavi has a release clause of £41.7 million in his contract, and it remains to be seen whether the Reds can secure his services in the coming months.

Barcelona recently signed Ferran Torres from Manchester City, but they have not been able to register him because of the lack of space on their wage bill.

Barcelona have recently loaned out Phillip Coutinho to Aston Villa, and the departure of Gavi could free up the space for Torres to become an active squad member for the Spanish club.
