Brentford vs Everton – Preview, H2H, Line-ups, Prediction | EPL 2022-23

Frank Lampard-Chelsea

Everton will travel to London this Saturday to play Brentford in the fourth round of the 2022/23 Premier League season.

Venue: Brentford Community Stadium (London)

Key Statistics

Brentford are the third-top scoring side in the league this season with eight goals to their name in just three games. Only Arsenal and Manchester City with nine goals have scored more goals this season.

They are unbeaten in every PL game when they have scored the opening goal (W10, D2).

Everton are winless in their last four league games (D1, L3).

They won just twice on the road last season in the league (D4, L13).

They failed to score in four of their last eleven away games in the league while conceding 3+ goals on four occasions.

Head to head

Brentford won both meetings between both sides last season. But Everton beat them 4-1 in the FA Cup last season.

Brentford

After their midweek exertions in the Carabao Cup, Brentford will return to the Premier League looking to record their second win of the season.

The Bees could not replicate their impressive 4-0 win over Manchester United in the second round last weekend as they were beaten by Fulham.

In an entertaining game at Craven Cottage that saw both teams record a combined 14 shots on target and 32 off target, it was Marco Silva’s side who opened the scoring in the first minute of the game through Bobby Reid.

Joao Palhinha doubled the score for the Cottagers before Christian Norgaard halved the deficit just before the half-time whistle. Ivan Toney later found an equaliser for the Bees, but they could not hold on for a point as a 90th-minute strike by Aleksandar Mitrović condemned them to their first loss of the season.

They will now hope they can get back to winning ways against an Everton side they beat in both of their Premier League meetings last season. Given that they have won four of their last six EPL home games, Thomas Frank’s side will fancy their chances of getting a win in this game.

Possible Brentford starting line-up

David Raya; Aaron Hickey, Ben Mee, Pontus Jansson, Rico Henry; Christian Norgaard, Joshua Dasilva, Mathias Jensen; Ivan Toney, Yoane Wissa, Bryan Mbeumo.

Injured: Sergi Canos, Ethan Pinnock, Kristoffer Ajer

Doubtful: None

Everton

Everton’s search for their first league win of the season will take them to Gtech Stadium where they are also looking to record their first win in the Premier League era.

Frank Lampard’s side have been unable to build on their remarkable escape last season, losing two of their opening three games this season.

They won their first point of the new season last weekend when they snatched a point in a 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest. One point from three games represents their worst points total after three games since 2010/11 and so they are desperate to record better points returns.

Without meaningful transfer activities this summer, it remains to be seen how they plan to achieve that. The Toffees sold their main goal threat Richarlison to Tottenham and have failed to replace the Brazilian, while they are also in danger of losing their Antony Gordon to Chelsea

Possible Everton starting line-up

Jordan Pickford; Mason Holgate, Conor Coady, James Tarkowski; Nathan Patterson, Alex Iwobi, Amadou Onana, Vitalii Mykolenko; Anthony Gordon, Demarai Gray, Salomon Rondon.

Injured: Ben Godfrey, Yerry Mina, Andre Gomes, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Andros Townsend, Abdoulaye Doucoure

Doubtful: None

Suspended: None

Prediction

Brentford 3-1 Everton
