Defending champion Bayern Munich resumed their Bundesliga 2019-20 campaign against Union Berlin with the same intensity and rhythm that they played last with Augsburg on 9th March.

In their returning match, Bayern beat Union 2-0 before an empty stand of Stadion An der Alten Försterei

Bayern Munich vs Union Berlin – Goals

The intensely fought match was equally poised till 40th minute when Robert Lewandowski broke the deadlock from the penalty spot. Goretzka was tripped inside the penalty area by Subotic. Lewandowski punished his former Dortmund teammate Subotic for the error with the goal.

The second goal came from a header from Benjamin Pavard at 80th minute of the match, when the Frenchman converted a Joshua Kimmich corner to ensure three points for the visitors. Pavard produced a rocket just before the break which missed the target by a whisker. One can remember the similar goal he produced to knock Argentina out of Russia World Cup 2018.

Lewandowski, Müller and Gnabry were superb and kept the Union defence busy till the latter two were substituted at the closing moments of the match. It did not look like they took the field after a gap of ten weeks.
