Brentford

After rescuing a draw from a two-goal deficit in their opening game, Brentford will look to snatch another positive result this weekend when they welcome Manchester United to the newly renamed Gtech Community Stadium.

The hosts came from 2-0 goals down to record a 2-2 draw with Leicester City in their opening game of the season. The result which was secured courtesy of goals from Ivan Toney and Joshua Dasilva will have had manager Frank Thomas proud of himself as it was his substitutions that sparked the comeback at the King Power Stadium.

The comeback was the first time in more than two years that the club had rescued points from a two-goal deficit in any competition. And so they will come into this game against a Manchester United squad that looks short of confidence, with the belief that they can snatch a point.

Possible Brentford starting line-up

David Raya; Aaron Hickey, Ben Mee, Pontus Jansson, Rico Henry; Christian Norgaard, Vitaly Janelt, Mathias Jensen; Ivan Toney, Yoane Wissa, Bryan Mbeumo.

Injured: Sergi Canos, Ethan Pinnock, Kristoffer Ajer

Manchester United

After becoming the first Manchester United manager since Louis van Gaal to lose his debut league match, Erik ten Hag will look to get his first official win as Man United boss when he takes his side to West London on Saturday evening.,

The Dutchman endured a poor result in the opening round of the Premier League season as his side were beaten 2-1 by a lively Brighton side who scored twice in the first half and could have even had a certain penalty.

After the game, he declared the result as “a setback and a real disappointment” and will be desperate for his side to bounce back and get their travelling fans something positive to cheer about away from home. The Red Devils lost the last six games of the 2021/22 Premier League season, failing to score in four of these games.

Having blamed a lack of self-belief for dropping all three points to Brighton, Ten Hag will now be hoping that his side have learnt from their early setback and put in a performance akin to what they gave during their pre-season tours.

Possible Manchester United starting line-up

David de Gea; Diogo Dalot, Lisandro Martinez, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw; Scott McTominay, Fred; Bruno Fernandes, Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford; Cristiano Ronaldo.

Injured: Anthony Martial, Brandon Williams

Doubtful: Facundo Pellistri
