Bremen

Werder Bremen will look to make it two wins in two games when they welcome Augsburg to Weserstadion this Friday.

The hosts come into this tie fresh off the back of a 2-0 Bundesliga victory over Bochum taking their points tally for the season to eight points (W2, D2, L1).

One of those wins was an entertaining 3-2 win over Borussia Dortmund on Matchday three. In that game, they became the first team in the league’s history to score three times after the 89th minute. They are also now the first-ever team in the Bundesliga to score a header in each of the first five games.

Despite that win at Bochum making it two consecutive Bundesliga victories on their travels, the hosts have recently struggled at home and are yet to pick up a point this campaign (D1, L1).

Having kept their first clean sheet of the season in that win over Bochum, team coach Ole Werner will hope to keep their first home clean sheet this season against a miserable Augsburg.

Possible Bremen starting line-up

Jiri Pavlenka; Amos Pieper, Milos Veljkovic, Marco Friedl; Mitchell Weiser, Romano Schmid, Christian Gross, Niklas Schmidt, Anthony Jung; Niclas Füllkrug, Marvin Ducksch

Injured: Jens Stage, Leonardo Bittencourt, Dikeno Salifou, Jean-Manuel Mbom

Doubtful: None

Suspended: None

Augsburg

Augsburg will look to put a stop to their miserable run when they travel to Bremen this Friday.

The visitors have won just one of their opening five league games this season, losing four, including the last three. Their start to the season is their third-worst five-game Bundesliga start (W1, L4) with only their first two seasons in the league seeing them collect fewer points at this stage.

They are now on the verge of equalling their worst Bundesliga run, as they have lost four games in a row only three times in their history following their last outing, which was a 2-0 loss to Hertha Berlin last weekend.

That loss made it two games now without a goal for Enrico Maaßen’s struggling side. And so they will travel to Bremen looking to end this miserable run. Given that their only win came away from home, they will fancy their chances of getting a win in this game.

Possible Augsburg starting line-up

Rafal Gikiewicz; Maximilian Bauer, Jeffrey Gouweleeuw, Raphael Framberger; Mads Pedersen, Arne Maier, Ricardo Pepi, Elvis Rexhbecaj, Iago; Mergim Berisha, Ermedin Demirovic.

Injured: Reece Oxford, Niklas Dorsch, Tobias Strobl, Felix Uduokhai, Frederik Winther

Doubtful: None

Suspended: None
