Burnley

Burnley did their chances of survival a world of good with a 3-0 win over high flying Brighton on Saturday.

Goals from summer signing Wout Weghorst, Josh Brownhill and Aaron Lennon gave the Clarets their second win of the season.

The win was also enough to move them out of the bottom of the table, although they are still five points behind Newcastle United in 17th place, having played two games less.

They will now look to secure back-to-back Premier League wins for the first time since January 2021 when they host Spurs on Wednesday. However, they cannot be guaranteed a win here, given their poor record against their visitors.

However, their last five-game record suggests that they have a chance of getting at least a draw here as they have lost just one of their last five games.

Given what is at stake, Sean Dyche will be desperate for his side to win this game as a win on Wednesday could take them above Watford and two points behind Newcastle.

Possible Burnley starting line-up

Nick Pope; Connor Roberts, James Tarkowski, Ben Mee, Charlie Taylor; Dwight McNeil, Ashley Westwood, Josh Brownhill, Maxwel Cornet; James Rodriguez, Wout Weghorst.

Injured: Matej Vydra and Johann Berg Gudmundsson

Doubtful: Charles Taylor

Suspended: None

Tottenham Hotspur

Meanwhile, Tottenham got their top-four bid back on track on Saturday as they defeated run-away league leaders Manchester City.

The London-side were in their most devastating shape in the game, scoring their opening goal after just four minutes via summer signing Dejan Kulusevski. Ilkay Gundogan restored parity for City in the first half.

But a double from Harry Kane, including a 90th-minute winner, secured all three points for Antonio Conte’s men and ended a three-game losing run in the league.

The win also blew the title race while open and would have given Spurs the confidence they needed to mount a more consistent top-four push.

After being in the periphery of the top four race since Conte was appointed, the visitors slipped recently and so they come into this tie sitting in eighth place, seven points behind Manchester United in fourth place,

However, they have played two games less than the Red Devils and will be confident of clawing their way back, starting with a win against this plucky Burnley side.

Possible Tottenham starting line-up

Hugo Lloris; Cristian Romero, Eric Dier, Ben Davies; Emerson Royal, Rodrigo Bentancur, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Sergio Reguilon; Lucas Moura, Harry Kane, Heung-Min Son..

Injured: Oliver Skipp

Doubtful: Japeth Tanganga
