Jurgen Klopp reaction, after Liverpool won Premier League

Liverpool will look to cut the gap between them and Manchester City when they welcome Leeds United to Anfield this Wednesday.

Venue: Anfield

Key Statistics

Liverpool have won all of their last three Premier League home meetings with Leeds United and have scored 10 goals across those games.

The Reds have done the league double over Leeds United four times (in 1996-97, 1997-98, 1999-00 and 2002-03).

They have scored at least a goal in all but one of their last 23 matches against Leeds United.

Liverpool are yet to lose a Premier League game at home this season. They have conceded just seven goals at Anfield this term.

Leeds United have conceded 29 away goals in the league this season. This is more than any other side.

They have won just two of their last eleven games (D2, L7).

The ‘Lilly Whites’ have conceded 50 goals this season. Only Norwich (53) have conceded more.

Head to head

Liverpool have been dominant in this fixture and are unbeaten in their last eleven meetings with Leeds United (W8, D3).

Liverpool

Despite falling behind against Norwich on Saturday, Liverpool kept their Premier League unbeaten home run intact as they came back from a goal down to beat Norwich 3-1 at Anfield.

Goals from Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and January signing Luis Díaz gave the Reds the win and ensure that they keep pace with Manchester City who are on top of the PL table.

Jurgen Klopp’s men were dealt a favour by Tottenham who beat Manchester City to leave Liverpool six points behind the top. They can now cut that gap to three points if they win this game.

With five PL wins from their last five PL games, the Anfield side will be in a good mood and confident about winning this game. Their dominant record in this fixture will also be a source of encouragement for them.

Possible Liverpool starting line-up

Injured: Diogo Jota

Leeds United

Meanwhile, Leeds United’s chances of survival took another hit on Sunday as they were soundly beaten 4-2 by their fierce rivals Manchester United at Elland Road.

The Red Devils raced to a 2-0 lead in the first half courtesy of goals from Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes. But Leeds United struck back in quick succession through Rodrigo Moreno and Raphinha in the 53rd and 54th minutes of the game to restore parity.

However, United kept plugging away and were rewarded for their efforts as Fred and Anthony Elanga restored their two-goal advantage in the last 20 minutes of normal time, leaving Marcelo Bielsa’s men perilously close to the relegation zone.

Another loss in this game will spell trouble for the Yorkshire side who by this time last season were still in the conversation for a top-seven finish. Their current tally of 23 points is 12 points less than they had at this time last season, proving that teams have learnt how to manage the Bielsa ball.

However, despite their poor form, the Argentine coach remains a solid tactician and his side cannot be ruled out from getting a win in this game.

Possible Leeds United starting line-up

Illan Meslier; Luke Ayling, Diego Llorente, Robin Koch, Stuart Dallas; Mateusz Klich, Adam Forshaw; Raphinha, Rodrigo, Jack Harrison; Daniel James..

Injured: Patrick Bamford, Liam Cooper, Sam Greenwood, Kalvin Phillips, Leo Fuhr Hjelde

Doubtful: None

Suspended: None
