Chelsea set for Thiago Silva contract talks

Chelsea are reportedly set to hold talks with veteran defender Thiago Silva over a contract extension, having been impressed with his impact in a shorter period.

The Brazilian moved to Stamford Bridge in a free transfer from PSG last summer and has since been integral to Blues’ defence. New boss Thomas Tuchel also looks happy to work with the 35-year-old, having previously done at Paris Saint-Germain.

Chelsea reach agreement with Boateng

The Blues are said to have reached an agreement in principle with Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng ahead of a summer move. The German ace will run out of contract this summer and it looks like Bayern haven’t taken any step towards his contract renewal, though he had earlier stated his desire to continue playing for them.

Tuchel looks to be in the transfer market for some defensive reinforcements and now he wants to bring his compatriot Boateng to Stamford Bridge on a free transfer.

Werner talks about new role under Tuchel

Timo Werner received much stick for his struggling start to life in the Premier League following his much-anticipated move to Chelsea last summer. However, the German forward has been impressive of late especially since Tuchel took control. Werner, who provided two assists against Sheffield United, has admitted that his new role change has been bearing fruits.

“He[Tuchel] gives us a lot of ideas. Now I play as a left number 10, not a left-winger, so I have more space for my runs in the middle and can play behind a striker, or with a number 10 behind me as a second striker.

“So it’s very good for me and I think there were also good moves from the manager in the last two wins.”
