Liverpool forward Takumi Minamino is all set to join the French club Monaco in a deal worth around €18m.

The Japanese international has been a squad player for the Reds since joining the club from RB Salzburg, and he is set to move on in search of regular game time.

The 27-year-old has been a useful player for the Reds, especially in the cup competitions and his contributions helped them win the League Cup and the FA Cup last season.

However, the Japanese international needs to play more often at this stage of his career and a move away from Liverpool since ideal for him.

According to the latest reports, Liverpool have already agreed on a deal with Monaco, and they are set to receive a fee of around €15m. The French Ligue 1 club will pay a further sum of €3m in add-ons depending on performances and appearances.

The Japanese international can play as a creative midfielder as well as a forward, and his versatility will be an added bonus for the French outfit.

It will be interesting to see if Minamino can settle in quickly and make an immediate impact at Monaco now.

The 27-year-old is at the peak of his powers, and his signing could prove to be a bargain if he manages to fulfil his potential at the French club.

As for Liverpool, they have lost Divock Origi this summer as well, and it will be interesting to see if Jurgen Klopp can bring in the necessary reinforcements before the transfer window ends.

Both Origi and Minamino were crucial to Liverpool’s cup double last season, and the Reds are now lacking in-depth as far as their attack is concerned.

Meanwhile, Sadio Mane has completed his transfer to Bayern Munich.
