Manchester United

Manchester United will look to make the most of Ronaldo’s return to Old Trafford when they welcome Newcastle United this weekend.

With tickets already sold out, this promises to be a big match for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, who will be desperate to pick up back-to-back home wins for the first time in six home games.

The Red Devils beat Wolves last time and out and kept their first clean sheet in 13 games. With the additions of Jadon Sancho and Raphael variance, the home team looks ready for the season and are the overwhelming favourites to win this game.

Their record against Newcastle is also a source of encouragement for them, especially Ronaldo, who scored his only PL hat-trick against the Magpies in 2008.

Possible United starting line-ups

After completing his compulsory quarantine, Ronaldo is available for selection this weekend.

However, Marcus Rashford remains sidelined after shoulder surgery, while Scott McTominay, Alex Telles, Dean Henderson, Fred and Edinson Cavani are all back from injuries are ready to be selected.

David de Gea, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Raphael Varane, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, Matic, Fred, Jadon Sancho, Bruno Fernandes, Paul Pogba, Mason Greenwood.

Newcastle

Following a poor start to the season, Newcastle would have hoped for an easier fixture after the international break. But they now face a United side who are energized by the return of one of their greatest players.

The Tyneside club are sitting in 17th place of the league table so early in the season. They will look to avoid a defeat in this game to avoid a potential getting caught up in the relegation battle.

However, their form in the last five games against United suggests that getting a point here is unlikely.

But Steve Bruce will be encouraged by their performance against Southampton last time out, where they scored two goals and were close to winning the game.

Possible Newcastle Line-ups

Freddie Woodman; Ciaran Clark, Jamaal Lascelles, Federico Fernandez; Matt Ritchie, Jacob Murphy, Sean Longstaff, Miguel Almiron, Joe Willock; Allan Saint-Maximin, Callum Wilson.

Prediction

With Ronaldo-mania gripping the whole of Manchester, Newcastle have an enormous task in their hands to stop this United side, who are looking to feed off the excitement of fans.

Solskjaer’s side may not have convinced this season, but they are easily the better team here and look set to win this tie.
