The Sassuolo midfielder has been excellent for Italy in Euro 2020.

Sassuolo midfielder Manuel Locatelli has been in scintillating form in Euro 2020, helping Italy to reach the finals.

Although he has lost his place since the return of Marco Verratti, Locatelli’s contribution in the group stage can’t be taken for granted, especially his excellent display against Switzerland in which he bagged two goals.

The 23-year-old has been subject to transfer interest from Italian giants Juventus, who have identified him as a top target ahead of next season. It was also reported that Bianconeri had begun talks with Sassuolo over a possible summer move for Locatelli.

However, famous Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano says that Arsenal are also in the transfer race for the former AC Milan star and waiting patiently to see the outcome of the talks between Juventus and Sassuolo.

The Gunners believe they can make a move for Locatelli if Juve fails to find a breakthrough in their talks with Sassuolo.

Earlier, Sassuolo chief stated it would be hard to keep the Italian midfielder beyond summer, and the club is ready to sell him for an acceptable offer.

Locatelli has grown by leaps and bounds at Sassuolo following his erratic spell with Rossoneri. He has developed into one of the best midfielders in Serie A after back to back impressive seasons.

The Premier League club are desperate to add new midfielders to their ranks as names like Houssem Aouar, Ruben Neves and Eduardo Camavinga have been linked.

However, the Old Lady holds the edge in the pursuit of Locatelli as the player desires to wear the Bianconeri shirt.
