The Blues have reportedly made contact with the Ligue 1 club over the signing of Eduardo Camavinga.
Chelsea have joined the race for highly-rated Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga.
According to a report from the Daily Mail, the Blues have contacted the Ligue 1 side to enquire about the signing of the French teenager, who is also on the top of the wishlist of Manchester United and PSG.
It was reported earlier that the Reds Devils were the front-runners to sign Camavinga after offering a fee worth €25m.
Now, Chelsea are the latest club to show interest in the 18-year-old as Thomas Tuchel looks keen on reinforcing the midfield.
Young midfielder Billy Gilmour is on the verge of completing a loan move to Norwich City, and the Blues are planning to replace the Scottish star.
Camavinga has been considered as one of the finest young talents in Europe after impressing in Ligue 1 over the last few seasons.
It was highly speculated that he would join a top club last summer. Now, Camavinga is said to be reluctant to sign a new deal, with his current contract expiring in the summer of 2022.
Rennes have decided to cash in on their prized asset as they look to avoid him leaving as a free agent.
Real Madrid and Arsenal are also understood to be the clubs interested in the French prodigy, who made his senior team debut with Les Bleus last year.
Tuchel’s side are looking for reinforcements across various positions on the field as they look to build on their impressive 2020/21 season, where they won the Champions League title.
With many clubs ready to battle it out for Camavinga, it will be interesting to see which destination Camavinga will choose in the end.
