Potter linked up as Conte’s replacement

Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte has been linked with a move away from the London club at the end of this season and Spurs are reportedly lining up a move for Graham Potter as the Italian’s replacement period

According to a report from Daily Mail, the 46-year-old is now the front runner to replace Conte at Tottenham should the Italian decides to move on this summer.

Conte has been linked with the likes of Paris Saint Germain.

Meanwhile, the report claims that Tottenham will have to pay Brighton a compensation fee of around £10m before appointing Graham Potter as their manager.

Potter has done an exceptional job with the Seagulls and he could be an interesting appointment for Tottenham in the long run.

The report further states that the likes of Roberto Mancini and Mauricio Pochettino are other options being considered to replace Antonio Conte in the summer.

Tottenham have shown considerable improvement under the Italian manager and it will be interesting to see if they can convince him to continue at the London club beyond this summer.

Conte demands new signings

Meanwhile, Antonio Conte has urged the Spurs hierarchy to splash the cash in the transfer market in order to reinforce the squad.

Conte believes that Tottenham will need better players in order to close the gap with the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool next season.

He said: “Now, in my opinion, I am talking about this league, it is more difficult because the space is not so big. To reduce this gap, you need to spend a lot of money because you need to buy important players. You have to know this otherwise you cannot reduce this gap and hope always for a miracle.”

It will be interesting to see whether Daniel Levy is willing to loosen the purse strings and back his manager in the transfer market.

The Spurs chairman has a reputation of being a cautious spender in the transfer market and it remains to be seen how the situation develops over the next few weeks.
