Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka has now agreed on a new contract with the Gunners.

The 28-year-old Switzerland international was heavily linked with a move to Roma, but talks between the two clubs eventually collapsed.

The player has now signed a deal with the Premier League club until the summer of 2025. The new deal will see him pocket a pay rise.

The midfielder had a very impressive European Championships campaign with his country earlier in the summer, and he will be hoping to carry that momentum into the Premier League season.

Despite his inconsistencies at Arsenal, the Swiss midfielder has shown that he can be a top-class player on his day, and Mikel Arteta will be hoping to get the best out of the midfielder in the coming season.

Newly appointed Roma manager Jose Mourinho was keen on signing the Arsenal midfielder this summer, but the Italian outfit failed to agree on a fee with the Londoners.

Arsenal have recently signed Albert Lokonga, and the young midfielder is expected to partner the likes of Xhaka and Thomas Partey next season.

With their midfield three sorted, the Gunners should now look to improve their attacking options. Bringing in a top-class striker should be a priority for them.

The Gunners have already completed a big-money deal for the Brighton and Hove Albion defender Ben White to improve their defence as well.
