Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has been heavily linked with a move away from the London club this summer, but a transfer seems quite unlikely.

The 27-year-old wants to join a club where he can win the major trophies, but here are a few reasons why the transfer could be complicated to complete.

Long term contract

The England international signed a long term contract in 2018, and Tottenham have the leverage when it comes to his future.

The Premier League side are under no pressure to sell the player, and the buying club will have to accept their demands if they want to sign Harry Kane.

Post-COVID transfer market

Most clubs across Europe are cash strapped because of the pandemic, and affording a player like Harry Kane will not be easy.

He has a long term contract at Tottenham, and the Premier League side are likely to demand around £120 million for his services.

Well, some clubs can afford that kind of money, but the pandemic has made it difficult to splash out on major signings this summer due to the drop in income.

Tottenham’s financial situation

Although the London club have suffered losses just like any other club because of the pandemic, they are not desperate to sell key players this summer.

Daniel Levy is prepared to offset his losses by taking out loans instead of cashing in on important players, and therefore the Londoners are unlikely to be tempted.

Kane is unlikely to force a move

The Premier League top scorer is a boyhood Tottenham fan who has come through the Academy, and he clearly loves the club.

He is unlikely to force a move and down the tools at the London club. Therefore Levy is unlikely to be under a lot of pressure to cash in on his star striker.
