Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott sustained a horrific injury against Leeds United earlier today.

The 18-year-old suffered ankle dislocation after a lunging tackle from Leeds United defender Pascal Struijk during the second half of the game.

According to reports, the midfielder is set to undergo surgery on Tuesday and he could be ruled out for the entirety of the season.

The youngster was on loan at Blackburn Rovers last season and he managed to force his way into Jurgen Klopp’s first-team plans this year.

The injury will come as a hammer blow for the midfielder who was only starting to establish himself as a first-team player at Liverpool.

The fans will be hoping that the injury does not have a long-lasting effect on the player who is prodigiously talented and is expected to develop into a top-class Premier League footballer.

Meanwhile, Premier League footballers like Raheem Sterling, Kalvin Phillips and Marcus Rashford have shown their support towards the midfielder after his horrific injury and they have taken to Twitter to share supportive messages.

Jurgen Klopp said after the game: “It’s a bad injury. Ankle, I heard it was dislocated. We could put it back. He’s in the hospital.

“I couldn’t care less [if it was a red card], it is not my business. It is a serious injury, definitely for an 18-year-old boy. The red card is not important. Two or three weeks we can play on, Harvey will not.”
