Virgil Van Dijk-Liverpool

Liverpool have been dealt another major injury blow ahead of this weekend’s game against Sheffield United.

Club captain Jordan Henderson was taken off during the game against Everton after suffering a groin injury and it seems that the player has undergone surgery now.

The midfielder is set to be sidelined for the next 8 weeks and it will be interesting to see if he returns to action towards the end of the season.

The Reds have been plagued with injuries this season and they have lost several key players for extended periods now.

The likes of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Joel Matip are already out for the season with long term injuries.

Meanwhile, Diogo Jota and Naby Keita have returned to training following their injuries but both players will have to build up match fitness before they are back in action.

It will be interesting to see if Jurgen Klopp decides to bring them back into the first-team fold this weekend.

Midfielders Fabinho and James Milner are currently sidelined with injuries as well and both players are expected to return to training tomorrow.

The Sheffield United game is probably too soon for them and the two players should be back in action next week.

The Reds will have to fight for a top four finish without several key players and it will be interesting to see if they can secure Champions League qualification this season.

They will be looking to get past RB Leipzig in the Champions League next week and they will have to do it without their captain Jordan Henderson.
