Everton 1-0 Sheffield: Richarlison goal ends Blades European dream

Carlo Ancelotti - Everton Manager

Sheffield United crashed to a 1-0 defeat at home to Everton in the Premier League earlier today.

They had a great chance of overtaking Wolves in the table but Chris Wilder’s men have slipped up.

The away side will be delighted with the win and they could have scored more goals. Dominic Calvert-Lewin came close to scoring the first goal of the game but his header came off the post halfway through the game.

However, Everton did well to score their opening game soon after the restart. Richarlison guided Gylfi Sigurdsson’s free-kick into the bottom-left corner.

Sheffield United star Dean Henderson did his best to keep his side in the game. Calvert-Lewin had another chance to get his name on the scoresheet but the on-loan Manchester United keeper denied him a one-on-one chance.

George Baldock had a good chance to bring his side level but he headed over from six yards.

Sheffield United’s European ambitions have taken a hit and it will be interesting to see where they finish this season.

Regardless, this has been a highly impressive season for them and Wilder has a lot to be positive about.

The Blades are now eighth with 54 points. Meanwhile, Everton are now up to 11th in the table with 49 points having secured their first win in five matches.

Everton will be hoping to finish their season strongly with a win in their last game. Ancelotti will be looking to give the fans some hope ahead of the next season.
