Leicester City

After seeing their weekend game postponed, Leicester City will get back to Premier League action this Wednesday when they welcome Tottenham to the King Power Stadium for their rescheduled round of 17 PL fixture.

The Foxes were scheduled to play Burnley over the weekend. But because of a Covid-19 outbreak within Sean Dyche’s squad, the Premier League postponed the game to a later date.

Brendan Rodgers’ side were last in action in the FA Cup against Watford, a game they won  4-1, thanks to goals from Youri Tielemans, James Maddison, Harvey Barnes, and Marc Albrighton.

In the league, their last action was a 1-0 win over Liverpool that was secured by Ademola Lookman’s second-half goal after Kasper Schmeichel had saved a first-half penalty by Mohamed Salah.

The hosts are one of the two sides to have played only 18 league games this season (alongside Tottenham) – only Burnley (17) have played fewer games. As a result, they are currently sitting in 10th with 25 points. However, their lowly position is not only a result of their lesser games. They started this season poorly, while a lot of injuries to their key players made it difficult for them to maintain consistency all season.

They come into this round of games sitting a distant 12 points behind West Ham in fourth and eight points behind Tottenham who are occupying the last Europa League spot.

Their season’s aim remains to finish in the top six and they will fancy their chances of doing so, having played less than half of their PL games. However, they must begin with a win in this game as a loss could see them drop out of the top half.

Possible Leicester City starting line-ups

Kasper Schmeichel; Marc Albrighton, Caglar Soyuncu, Jannik Vestergaard, Luke Thomas; Youri Tielemans, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Boubakary Soumare, James Maddison; Harvey Barnes, Ademola Lookman.

Injured: Johnny Evans, Wesley Fofana, Ricardo Pereira, Jamie Vardy, Ryan Bertrand, Timothy Castagne

Unavailable (AFCON): Daniel Amartey, Kelechi Iheanacho, Wilfred Ndidi, Nampalys Mendy

Tottenham Hotspur

After their Carabao Cup exit, Tottenham will look to get back to winning ways when they travel to the King Power to play Leicester City.

The visitors were scheduled to play rivals Arsenal over the weekend, but because of injuries, absence of players and Covid issues within their squad, the Gunners asked that the game be moved to a later date.

The postponement was the fourth time a Spurs’ game this season has been postponed because of Covid. issues, meaning that the North London side have played just 18 games this season.

Antonio Conte’s side come into this fixture sitting in sixth place. They have four games in hand and are just four points behind fourth-placed West Ham.

With Arsenal not in PL action this midweek as a result of their Carabao Cup engagement with Liverpool on Thursday, Tottenham can climb to fifth if they win this game.

They will be desperate to take home the maximum points from this game and extend their unbeaten start under Conte (W5, D3).

Hugo Lloris; Davinson Sanchez, Ben Davies, Japhet Tanganga, Emerson Royal, Matt Doherty; Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Harry Winks, Oliver Skipp; Lucas Moura, Harry Kane.
