Leicester City 3-1 Manchester United: Iheanacho brace sends the Red Devils out of the FA Cup

Kelechi Iheanacho-Leicester City

Leicester City booked their place in the semi-finals of the FA Cup for the first time in 39 years with a 3-1 win over Manchester United earlier today.

The Foxes opened the scoring on the 24th minute through former Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho. However the visitors got back into the game soon after through Mason Greenwood on the 38th minute.

With the scores level at the stroke of half time, both teams would have fancied their chances but it was Leicester City who started the game positively in the second half and were rewarded for their efforts on the 52nd minute when Youri Tielemans put them ahead once again.

Iheanacho wrapped up the scoring on the 78th minute with his second goal of the game.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be thoroughly disappointed with the performance of his players.

Manchester United were comfortably outplayed and Leicester City put on a flawless, purposeful performance against the Premier League giants and they deserve their place in the semi-finals of the competition.

The likes of Wilfred Ndidi, Wesley Fofana, Caglar Soyuncu were outstanding at the back and Manchester United struggled to find their way past the Leicester defence.

Solskajer decided to start the game without key players like David De Gea, Edinson Cavani, Bruno Fernandes and Luke Shaw. The United manager expected his fringe players to get the job done tonight but his decision backfired and Manchester United now find themselves out of the competition.

The FA Cup was a great opportunity for the Red Devils to win a trophy this season and it will be interesting to see if they can go on and win the Europa League now.
