Coutinho’s Champions League win with Bayern Munich to cost Barcelona £4.5m

Philippe Coutinho's agent hints at Barcelona return

Liverpool are all set to pocket around £4.5m if Philippe Coutinho manages to win the Champions League this season with Bayern Munich.

The Barcelona midfielder is on loan at the German club and he shone in their 8-2 mauling of the Spanish outfit earlier this week.

According to a clause in his contract, the Spanish club will have to pay Liverpool a certain bonus if he wins the Champions League during his time at the club. The clause does not mention that Coutinho has to win the competition with Barcelona.

Since he is officially contracted to the Spanish club, they will have to fork out the amount if Bayern win the Champions League this season.

Barcelona are already devastated with the way they crashed out of the Champions League and the club is in chaos. It seems that a new manager will be brought in soon and the likes of Pochettino, Koeman and Henry have been linked with the job.

Paying up for Bayern’s Champions league win would only add to that insult.

It will be interesting to see how Barcelona cope with their current situation now. They will be expected to bounce back strongly next season.

A quality managerial appointment should be their top priority now.

Barcelona have been disappointing in the Champions League for a while now. The defeats against Liverpool and Roma in the previous seasons were just as humiliating.
