Nico Gonzalez wanted by Manchester City

Premier League Champions Manchester City are interested in signing Barcelona‘s young midfielder Nico Gonzalez, who earned his promotion to the first team from the reserves in the summer.

According to reports, Pep Guardiola wants to raid his former club for the signing of Gonzalez, whom the Spanish boss sees as a long term successor for Fernandinho.

City would have to prepare for a life without Fernandinho, who is in the final year of his contract at the Etihad.

After impressing during the pre-season, Gonzalez has been enjoying more with the Blaugrana’s first team this season.

The 19-year-old also appears to be gaining the trust of Ronald Koeman after making 5 appearances in La Liga this season.

However, the Catalan giants, who are in a deep crisis at the moment, cite the Spanish midfielder as a key player for the club’s future.

Man City leading the race for Pau Torres

According to Metro, Citizens are in pole position to sign highly-rated Villarreal defender Pau Torres.

The 23-year-year old has grown into one of the most coveted defenders over the last two seasons and was also linked with clubs like Manchester United, Tottenham and Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

The Europa League winners are only ready to part ways with the Spanish centre-back if his 50m pounds release clause is met.

City are currently awash with top-class defenders like Ruben Dias, John Stones, Nathan Ake and Aymeric Laporte. However, Laporte is said to be considering his future at Etihad and hence Guardiola wants to bring an out-and-out replacement.

Torres is as good as his international team-mate Laporte and his style of play makes him a good fit for the Sky Blues.
