Napoli

Napoli continued their resurgence and resumed their title charge on Sunday as they defeated Venezia 2-0.

Goals from the returning Victor Osimhen and substitute Andrea Petagna gave ‘Gli Azzurri’ the win against their hosts, who had Tyronne Ebuehi sent off in the 95th minute.

The result kept Luciano Spalletti’s side in second place, one point behind their visitors, who are sitting on top of the table at the moment.

The win was also Napoli’s fourth league win on the bounce and saw the hosts keep their 13th clean sheet of the season. No side has kept as many clean sheets, nor has any team conceded fewer goals than ‘I Partenopei.’

Impressively, Napoli have lost just one of their last 15 head-to-head home meetings with Inter (W9, D5). However, they have not beaten the visitors in each of their last five head-to-head meetings in all competitions (L3, D2).

Possible Napoli starting line-up

David Ospina; Giovanni Di Lorenzo, Juan Jesus, Amir Rrahmani, Mario Rui; Fabian Ruiz, Stanislav Lobotka, Piotr Zielinski; Matteo Politano, Lorenzo Insigne, Victor Osimhen.

Injured: None

Doubtful: Kalidou Koulibaly, Axel Tuanzebe, Hirving Lozano

Suspended: None

Inter Milan

After their loss in the Milan Derby last weekend, Inter Milan redeemed themselves in the Coppa Italia in midweek as they defeated Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma side in the quarter-finals of the cup tournament.

A goal from former Roma striker Edin Dzeko inside two minutes set the ball rolling before Alexis Sanchez seized the win for them in the 68th minute.

They will now turn their attention to the league where they are looking to keep their place at the top of the table.

The ‘Nerazzurri’ are at risk of losing consecutive SA games for the first time since March 2020 and so will be desperate to give a good account of themselves and their title defence in this game. A loss could see them drop out of the top two, something that Simone Inzaghi will be looking to avoid.

Their recent six-game away league form (W4, D2) also further fuels belief, especially with Simone Inzaghi’s men conceding just once during this phase, compared to eight times in the five SA away games prior.

Possible Inter Milan starting line-up

Samir Handanovic; Federico Dimarco, Stefan de Vrij, Milan Skriniar; Denzel Dumfries, Ivan Perisic, Marcelo Brozovic, Nicolo Barella, Hakan Calhanoglu; Lautaro Martinez, Edin Dzeko.

Injured: Robin Gosens, Joaquin Correa,

Doubtful: Felipe Caicedo

Suspended: Alessandro Bastoni,
