Arsenal closing in on Martin Odegaard

Arsenal are closing in on the signing of Martin Odegaard from Real Madrid.

According to the latest reports, the Premier League side are set to complete a €50 million deal to sign the Norwegian international.

Apparently, the player is keen on leaving the Spanish club and Real Madrid have decided to accept his decision.

Odegaard believes that Carlo Ancelotti wasn’t going to give him the necessary opportunities to succeed at Real Madrid and he wants to leave in search of regular first-team football.

The report further states that Real Madrid would like to include a buy-back option in the player’s contract but arsenal are reluctant to accommodate such a request.

The transfer is expected to be made official soon.

Odegaard was on loan at Arsenal during the second half of last season and he was outstanding for the Gunners during his short period at the club.

Joe Willock joins Newcastle United

Meanwhile, Arsenal have sanctioned the £25 million departure of Joe Willock to Newcastle United.

The 21-year-old attacking midfielder was on loan at St James’s Park last season and he managed to score eight goals for them during the second half of the season.

Newcastle were always keen on signing the player permanently and Steve Bruce will be delighted to have completed the transfer.

Joe Willock needs regular game time in order to fulfil his potential and he was unlikely to get those opportunities at Arsenal in the coming season.

A move to Newcastle will help him continue his development with regular game time and he will have plenty of opportunities to join a top club in the future if he manages to fulfil his potential.
