Olympiacos:
- Kane and Moura put Spurs two up by half-hour
- Olympiacos come back from two down to draw; Podence and Valbuena penalty salvage point
Tottenham Hotspur threw away a two-goal lead against Olympiacos on Wednesday evening, as the residence side fought back to claim a priceless point in their opening Champions League match.
Spurs took the lead on 26 mins, Kane created the chance and earned the penalty, when he was tripped inside the box. Later he converted the penalty to provide visitor 1-0 lead. Lucas Moura increased the Lilywhites’ advantage on the half-hour mark.
The hosts pulled an objective back prior to half-time, Daniel Podence exchanging passes with Mathieu Valbuena before gunning past Hugo Lloris. Valbuena then levelled the competition from the spot, after Christian Eriksen unnecessarily shed property on the edge of his very own box.
Both sides promoted a winner, however a draw was a reasonable lead to an intense and out of breath experience in Greece.
Harry Kane hits the bar in dying moments of the game. He was sympathetic with concern of his coach.
“You can see why the manager is frustrated,” Kane told the BBC. “He has been here for five years now and we are still making similar mistakes as we were the first year.
“We are not young any more, we are not inexperienced, we have played in big games for club and country. “We have to try to find a way to get around it and improve and get better. That is all we can try to do.”
