Liverpool have been linked with a move for the Spanish midfielder Saul Niguez.
According to reports, the 26-year-old midfielder could be signed as an alternative to Gini Wijnaldum, who left Liverpool for Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
Saul struggled to hold down a regular starting berth at Atletico Madrid last season, and he needs to join a club where he can play regularly. It is rumoured that the talented Spanish midfielder has fallen out with Atletico manager Diego Simeone.
The player has recently been linked with Chelsea, Manchester clubs and Bayern Munich as well.
The highly talented box-to-box midfielder would be a quality addition to the Liverpool midfield, and he could complement the likes of Fabinho and Thiago with his skill set.
The Premier League side need to bring in a midfielder who can contribute to the attacking phase of their play as well, and Saul certainly has the capability to chip in with important goals and assists.
Jurgen Klopp will have seen the player up close during Liverpool’s Champions League clash against Atletico Madrid during the 2019-20 season.
Saul managed to put on a spectacular display against the the Reds, and he scored a vital goal in the first leg as well.
Atletico Madrid are willing to sell the player to Liverpool this summer, and it will be interesting to see if all parties can finalize the transfer in the coming weeks.
The Reds have already improved their defence with the signing of Ibrahima Konate, and the arrival of Saul would give them some much-needed quality and depth in the midfield as well.
