Raphinha’s agent pictured with Barcelona chief, blow for Arsenal

Rodrigo-Raphinha-Leeds United

Arsenal have been linked with a move for the Leeds United winger Raphinha in recent weeks.

Since joining the club, the Brazilian international has been an exceptional player for Leeds, and he has helped them beat relegation this past season.

However, a player of his calibre deserves to play at a higher level, and a move away from Leeds United has been on the cards for a while now.

Apparently, the Gunners are looking to bring him in to improve their attack this summer, and it will be interesting to see whether they can agree on a fee with their Premier League rivals.

However, it seems that Arsenal have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of the talented winger. Apparently, Barcelona are keen on signing the winger this summer, and the player’s agent has been pictured with the Spanish club’s president.

Even though Barcelona are going through an economic crisis, they will be the favourites to land the Brazilian, given their stature in European football.

Furthermore, Arsenal missed out on Champions League qualification last season, and Raphinha will be hoping to join a club where he can compete in Europe’s premier tournament.

The Leeds United winger is an outstanding creator and can also chip in with vital goals.

Naturally a right-sided winger, the Brazilian will add pace and flair to the Barcelona attack if the Spanish giants can pull off his signing.

Apparently, there was a clause in the winger’s contract which would have allowed him to leave for a reasonable price had Leeds been relegated from the Premier League. However, the whites are now safe and likely to demand a premium for his services.

It will be interesting to see whether Barcelona can afford the asking price given their financial limitations in recent months.

Arsenal probably are better placed financially to sign the winger, but they are not as attractive as a project.

Furthermore, it will be interesting to see how Arsenal accommodate a player like him if they manage to sign him.

The Gunners have Bukayo Saka operating as the right-sided winger, and Raphinha would have to give up his natural role to hold down a starting berth at the London club.

Recent reports have claimed that the player has his heart set on a move to the Spanish club, and it remains to be seen how the situation unfolds over the next few weeks.

Leeds United have been pretty clear with all clubs interested in Raphinha: he can leave but they want at least £65m fee. 🇧🇷 #LUFC
