Tottenham Update: Mourinho’s decline, Selfish dressing room jibe and Harry Kane replacements

Jose Mourinho-Tottenham Hotspur

Mourinho a shadow of his former self

When Tottenham decided to appoint Jose Mourinho as their manager the fans would have expected the Portuguese manager to end their trophy drought.

Mourinho has been a proven winner throughout his career and he has one trophy is all across the globe.

However, it seems that the Portuguese manager has lost his mojo and he’s really struggling at the London club right now.

Daniel Levy backed Jose Mourinho considerably in the summer transfer window but the Spurs manager has failed to get the best out of his players and Tottenham are currently out of the Europa League and they’re struggling to finish in the top four of the Premier League.

It will be interesting to see if Mourinho can hold onto his job beyond this season.

There is no doubt that the Portuguese manager has a massive reputation but it is also evident that he is a shadow of his former self and no longer an elite manager like Pep Guardiola or Jurgen Klopp.

Mourinho on selfish players

Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho believes that the club’s dressing room is divided by selfish players.

Mourinho has hit out at the players and their agents who are concerned about their personal individual interests.

It is evident that Tottenham are struggling to keep a harmonious dressing room and recently club captain Hugo Lloris also hinted that there were deep-rooted problems at the club.

“Football nowadays is not easy in relation to that,” he told. “The selfishness is around, the individual interests are around, the agents are around, the connections between agents and press are around.

“And instead of developing a feeling of a team, empathy, ‘I do for you, you do for me’, ‘I win if I play 90 minutes, I win if I am in the stands’.

“This is something that you need time to develop this in a group. Nowadays you need time because society and the psychological profile of younger people is not an easy one.”

Harry Kane replacements

Tottenham star Harry Kane has been linked with a move away from the club at the end of the season.

According to reports, the London club will have three successors in mind to replace the England international and one of them is Sergio Aguero.

The Manchester City striker is a Premier League legend and he is expected to leave this summer. It will be interesting to see if Spurs can lure him to London.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa star Ollie Watkins and Danny Ings are two other options to replace Cal.

Watkins has scored twelve goals so far this season and Danny Ings has nine goals to his name. Both players have done exceedingly well for their respective clubs but replacing a prolific scorer and a creator like Harry Kane might be difficult for them.
