Unai Emery responds to Newcastle United rumours.

Newcastle United are continuing their search for a new manager after sacking Steve Bruce.

The new Saudi owners are eyeing a top-class manager, who can help the Magpies compete at all fronts.

While Newcastle have been linked with an array of names, Villarreal boss Unai Emery appears to be their latest target.

The Magpies are said to be keen on luring him away from the Yellow Submarine after the international break.

Emery had a nightmare spell at Arsenal before moving to Villarreal last year. In his first season, he led the Yellow Submarine to Europa League glory, beating Manchester United in the final.

However, the Spanish manager has shrugged off the rumours, stating that he is unaware of anything about Newcastle.

When asked about the Newcastle rumours, Emery replied (h/t Mirror): “I don’t know anything about Newcastle.”

Emery has been put under pressure after a lacklustre start to this season, with Villarreal sitting at 12th in the table.

Fonseca keen on Newcastle job

According to a report from Sport Bible, Former Roma boss Paulo Fonseca is keen on landing a job at Newcastle.

The Portuguese gaffer was one of the candidates considered by Newcastle’s new owners at first.

Fonseca parted ways with Roma last season and eventually got replaced by Jose Mourinho. The former Shakhtar Donetsk manager was close to joining Tottenham in the summer transfer window but the deal couldn’t see its light.

There is a pressing issue for the Magpies to find a new manager sooner following their disastrous start to the season.
