VAR and Vardy forced Arsenal to concede 0-1 loss against Leicester

Jamie Vardy-Leicester City

Arsenal conceded 0-1 loss at Emirates Stadium against Leicester City in the Premier League earlier today.

Brendan Rodgers‘s men were quite poor in the last few games and they will be delighted to have turned their form around with a crucial win over the Gunners away from home.

Jamie Vardy scored the only goal of the game on the 80th minute and Arsenal will be thoroughly disappointed with the outcome.

The Londoners were firm favourites heading into the game and the fans would have expected a win from them.

The early lead through Alexandre Lacazette header from corner was ruled out by VAR for Granit Xhaka being at offside position. Though Xhaka cleverly left the ball to VAR interpreted Xhaka’s presence could influence Schmeichel’s performance.

The Gunners have improved a lot since the arrival of Arteta but they seemed indecisive today and the team lacked sharpness throughout the game.

Mikel Arteta will be hoping to help his side finish inside the top four this season and Arsenal cannot afford to drop points against the likes of Leicester City, especially at home if they want to achieve their goals and secure Champions League qualification for the next season.

As for Leicester city, they needed a morale boost after their recent defeats and tonight’s result will have given them immense confidence to go ahead and put together a winning run now.

Arsenal spent considerable money this summer to get their squad right for a top four challenge and Arteta will have to get more out of his players.

The Gunners have improved a lot defensively but they are missing a quality creator. Arsenal’s attack has looked disjointed despite having quality players like Aubameyang and Lacazette.

Perhaps someone like Mesut Ozil could help them creatively in future.
