Moise Kean continues to shine as PSG beat Istanbul Basaksehir 2-0

Moise Kean-PSG

PSG have won their first game of the Champions League this season.

PSG have defeated Istanbul Basaksehir 2-0 in the Champions League group stage away fixture.

Istanbul Basaksehir, who are playing in their first Champions League ever, remained as a threat for Les Parisiens however the lack of final product saw them score no goals. PSG were also equally competent in moving forward but chances from Mbappe and Angel Di Maria went begging.

It was until around the hour-mark when Moise Kean gave visitors the lead, scoring through a header. Kylian Mbappe’s corner kick found an unmarked Kean, who directed the ball to the nets through a strong header.

Kean went on to double the lead in the 79th minute through a brilliant finish inside the box. Mbappe’s ball found the Italian striker before he turned his body to produce a left-footed shot to beat the goalkeeper.

Kean has replicated the performance he had against Dijon last week, scoring consecutive doubles. The 20-year-old is already proving to be a great addition for Les Parisiens as his contributions have come during the absence of Mauro Icardi.

Keylor Navas has to be appreciated as well for his unsung work between the sticks, denying a handful of chances from the Turkish outfit.

PSG have now bounced back from their disappointing defeat against Manchester United on Matchday 1 of the Champions League. However, the absence of midfielders Marco Verratti and Leandro Paredes was clearly felt after the French Champions couldn’t gain control for the larger part of the game.

It needs to be seen how Paris St Germain will build on this performance as they have strong competitors Man Utd and Leipzig in what looks like a group of death.
