Wolves look to have found their replacement for Matt Doherty in Portuguese right-back Nelson Semedo.

According to reports, Wolves are closing in on a summer move for Barcelona right-back Nelson Semedo for a reported fee of £35m.

Nuno Santo has been keen on finding a replacement for Matt Doherty, who left the Molineux outfit to join Tottenham.

Semedo is understood to be not in the plans of Barca manager Ronald Koeman, who is working on a squad revamp.

Semedo moved to the Nou Camp in 2017 from Benfica and has failed to exceed his expectations.

The Portuguese would be the third departure of Barca this summer following Ivan Rakitic and Arturo Vidal. Vidal is set to join Serie A club Inter Milan.

Meanwhile, Barca are in the lookout for a new right-back and have sorted out Ajax’s Sergino Dest as a top target.

However, Barca face competition from Champions League winners Bayern Munich for the signing of Dest.

The Catalan club has also had multiple offers turned down by Norwich City for young right-back Max Aarons.

Elsewhere, Wolves have been productive in the transfer window with the acquisitions of Marcal and teenager Fabio Silva. Diogo Jota, who represented Wolves for around three seasons, recently left the club to join Premier League champions, Liverpool.

Semedo’s arrival would strengthen Wolves’ defence manyfold as he is suitable to play as a right-sided centre-back in Santo’s preferred 3-4-3 setup.
