Manchester United Roundup: Latest on Bruno Fernandes new deal, Cavani – Martial injuries and Fred absence

Bruno Fernandes

Manchester United are prepared to reward Bruno Fernandes with a bumper new deal at the club.

The new contract could take the Portuguese international’s wages up to 200,000 pounds a week.

The 26-year-old has been the best player at the club ever since his move from Sporting Lisbon in January and he has managed to score 22 goals and provide 14 assists in just 37 games for Manchester United.

The midfielder currently earns 100,000 pounds a week and there is no doubt that he deserves to be one of the top earners at the club.

If he continues to perform at this level, other European clubs could look to make a move for Fernandes and Manchester United will be keen to fend off the competition and keep him at the club for as long as possible.

It will be a major morale boost for the whole club if they manage to tie the 26-year-old down to a new long term deal.

Edinson Cavani and Anthony Martial

In other news, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that Edinson Cavani and Anthony Martial have picked up muscle injuries during Saturday’s win over West Ham United.

Cavani has been quite influential for Manchester United during his short spell at the club so far and it will be interesting to see when he returns to action.

Manchester United are already lacking in depth in attack and the loss of Martial and Cavani will come as a huge blow to them.

The likes of Rashford and Greenwood will have to guide the side past this phase now.

Fred

Finally, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed why Fred was absent against West Ham United yesterday.

He revealed that the Brazilian midfielder has not sustained any injury and he is simply being protected for the congested fixture list later this month.

The Red Devils will take on RB Leipzig, Manchester City, Sheffield United, Leeds United, Everton, Leicester City and Wolverhampton Wanderers before 2020 ends.

Fred has been a key player for Manchester United this season and it is hardly surprising that the manager wants to protect him for the upcoming games.
