Wolves

After their FA Cup disappointment, Wolverhampton Wanderers will turn their attention to the Premier League when they welcome Arsenal to the Molineux Stadium on Thursday night.

The hosts were beaten 1-0 by Norwich on Saturday to send them out of the FA Cup, leaving them with just the Premier League this season.

With 34 points to their name after 21 games, Bruno Lage’s side are currently sitting in eighth place, two points behind Arsenal who are in sixth place. The Portuguese is eyeing a top-six finish in his first season in charge and will fancy his sides’ chances of attaining that, given their recent record.

The hosts are currently on a three game-winning run in the league and are unbeaten in their last five league games, (W4, D1). They have not conceded over one goal in an outstanding 12 consecutive competitive outings (W6, D3, L3), a result which has helped Wolves register eight of their ten league wins by a single goal margin.

A win in this game will see them overtake Arsenal into the top six.

Possible Wolves starting line-up

Jose Sa; Max Kilman, Conor Coady, Romain Saiss, Nelson Semedo; Ruben Neves, Leander Dendoncker, Joao Moutinho, Rayan Ait-Nouri; Raul Jimenez, Daniel Podence.

Injured: Hee-Chan Hwang

Doubtful: None

Suspended: None

Arsenal

Unlike their hosts, Arsenal were not in FA Cup action over the weekend, as they had been eliminated in the third round by Nottingham Forest.

But they come into this tie on the back of a 0-0 draw with Burnley, which was their last Premier League action.

The result means that Mikel Arteta’s side have failed to score in each of their last four games in all competitions.

With striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang gone to Barcelona, Arteta has a big job on his hands trying to solve his side’s recent goal-scoring problems. The onus is now on Alexandre Lacazette and youngster Eddie Nketiah to fill the boots left by the Gabonese striker.

Meanwhile, the Gunners still have to conquer postponed fixtures against Tottenham, Chelsea and Liverpool later in the season. And so a third consecutive H2H defeat against Wolves would place their chances of returning to the Champions League for the first time since 2016/17 in serious jeopardy.

However, they have not dropped points in three straight PL games since their three defeats to open the season, suggesting they will be able to bounce back here.

Possible Arsenal starting line-up

Aaron Ramsdale; Ben White, Gabriel, Kieran Tierney, Rob Holding; Granit Xhaka, Thomas Partey, Martin Odegaard; Emile Smith-Rowe, Bukayo Saka, Alexandre Lacazette.

Injured: Takehiro Tomiyasu

Doubtful: Cedric Soares, Mohamed Elneny

Suspended: None
