PSG sporting director Leanardo optimistic over Neymar and Mbappe deals

PSG to play Champions League matches abroad

Leanardo believes Neymar and Mbappe will stay put at Parc des Princes.

PSG sporting director remains optimistic over the future of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe as he expects the duo to sign a new deal eventually.

Neymar’s contract is due to expire next year, but the rumours of his possible return to Barcelona this summer has surfaced recently.

Nonetheless, Leanardo believes Les Parisiens are maintaining a good rapport with the Brazilian and in no hurry to tie him to a new deal.

“Neymar’s extension? We are in no hurry.

“Nobody is running behind us; we are really quiet. We have very good and frank reports.”

Even Neymar pledged his future to Les Parisiens following the emphatic Champions League win against Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals.

Mbappe, who remains coy over his future, has been subject to transfer interest of European giants like Real Madrid and Liverpool this summer.

Moreover, Madrid are said to be keen on the French World Cup winner, with their President Florentino Perez recently dropping a significant transfer hint in an interview.

Despite the speculations, Leanardo also feels optimistic about Mbappe’s future with Ligue 1 champions, and he thinks in the same way for his attacking partner Neymar.

“Everything is clear; we know Kylian’s situation, he knows what we think, there is nothing more than that.

“He still has a year on the contract; his decision will come.

“We are generally optimistic [about a new deal]. We do not even have a reason not to be optimistic about the future. I ask once again for total concentration.”

The duo has been sensational for Mauricio Pochettino’s side this season, helping them reach the semi-finals of the Champions League, where they will face Manchester City.
