Guendouzi responds to Ozil’s praising comments

Matteo Guendouzi-Hertha Berlin

Ozil had praised the French midfielder during a Q/A session on Twitter.

Hertha Berlin’s loan star Matteo Guendouzi, who is bound to Arsenal, has responded to the high praising comments from Mesut Ozil.

Earlier, Ozil pointed his finger towards Guendouzi when he was asked to name the underrated player he had played with during a Twitter Q/A session.

The French midfielder has now responded to the comment, thanking the German outcast while praising him as one of the best players.

Ozil said: @MatteoGuendouzi – I’m sure he will be a big football player one day!”

Guendouzi wrote: “Thank you my bro @MesutOzil1088. You know how much these words are important for me, especially from you, one of the best player[s] in the world and the best I played with.”

Ozil’s comments are seen as an insinuation at the Gunners manager Mikel Arteta as both the players had fallen out of favour under the Spaniard.

Especially, Guendouzi had a fall out with Arteta, eventually leading the Frenchman to seek out an exit door.

Guendouzi, who joined Hertha Berlin on a season-long loan in the summer, has established himself as an integral part of the side. He was also on the scoresheet in the 1-1 draw against Freiburg.

Hertha is also said to be considering making the deal of the 21-year-old a permanent one following his impressive performances, even hinted by the club’s chief.

Elsewhere, the Gunners are a club in crisis after a string of poor results, with many touting Arteta’s side to fall in the relegation zone.

Furthermore, their recent Carabao Cup defeat against Manchester City has added more insult to the injury.
