Lille are closing in on their first Ligue 1 title in 10 years.
The French outfit are currently four points clear at the top of the table, and they will be crowned champions if they can win their two remaining matches.
The League leaders took a massive step towards the title with a 3-0 win over Lens yesterday.
Star striker Burak Yilmaz scored a brace for the visitors, and Jonathan David wrapped up a fantastic win with a second-half goal.
Defending champions Paris Saint-Germain are currently four points adrift of the top spot with three matches remaining, and they will be hoping to win their games in hand and take the title race down to the wire.
Lille could become only the second team to win the French League title other than PSG since 2013. Monaco managed to win the championship back in 2016.
The league leaders have been extremely solid at the back this season, and their defensive performances are driving them towards domestic glory this season.
They have conceded just 22 goals in 36 League games, and they had the best defensive record in the country.
Another man who has made an unparalleled contribution to their title charge is experienced Turkish striker Burak Yilmaz.
The 35-year-old joined the French club on a free transfer at the start of the season, and he has been unbelievable for them so far. Yilmaz has scored 17 goals in 31 appearances for the French outfit in all competitions.
When the 35-year-old signed for Lille in the summer, few would have expected him to make an impact like this especially considering the fact that the player is in the twilight years of his career.
Lille have two matches remaining in the league this season against the likes of St Etienne and Angers. Both teams are currently at 12th and 13th spot of Ligue 1 table.
St Etienne have lost two of their last five league matches, and Angers have lost four and drawn one of their last five League games.
It would be fair to assume that Lille should be able to win these games and secure the title this season.
Lille sold Pépé for €80m and replaced him with Osimhen for €22.4m. The next summer they sold Osimhen for €70m and replaced him with Yilmaz on a free transfer. Now, Yilmaz has scored 15 goals in 25 games as Lille is on trajectory to win Ligue 1. Luis Campos is a maestro.
PSG have won Ligue 1 seven of the past eight seasons. After beating Lens 3-0, if Lille win their final two games, they’ll be champions of France
